CANASA Scholarship Written Application Section
A complete application will answer the two mandatory questions below as well as two optional questions. We recommend you draft out your responses in word prior to starting the application.
Mandatory Questions (1000-word maximum per question):
- Community engagement and public safety are important attributes for Canadian Security Association (CANASA). Please describe your Community Involvement (past and present).
- What program are you enrolled in and what are your plans/goals for the future?
Optional Questions* (please respond to ONLY two of the following with a 500-word maximum per question):
- How does the first responder community work with the security industry and why is this important?
- Describe a personal experience where electronic security played a vital role in the safeguarding of property or individuals.
- Discuss the hurdles that first responders are faced with while maintaining security during emergency responses, crisis situations, and/or local events.
- Define how advancements in technology have impacted security measures, and how technology continues to shape the security industry.
- What role does social media play in the security industry? Discuss the advantages / disadvantages, and how cyber threats and online interactions change the way security may be implemented.
- For children of first responders: can you share a story that highlights the impact of your parents’ work on your personal values or goals?
*NOTE: For the optional question section, select and ONLY ANSWER TWO questions as only the first two response will be reviewed by our evaluators.
